Betty (On the Beat)
- Date Received: January 12, 2024
- Birth date: December 10, 2019
- Adopted: May 4, 2024
History: Betty is another Aussie Greyhound coming to TAGS from Greyhounds as Pets, New South Wales, Australia. She arrived in the U.S. on January 11, 2024 after a 15-hour flight from Sydney and had an overnight comfort stop at a pet hotel before being picked up by a TAGS volunteer on January 12, 2024. Betty has been completely vetted. Her dam is Midnight Francis and her sire is Zambora Brockie. According to Greyhound-Data, Betty only ran 3 races (not much of a showing there).
The handlers at Greyhounds as Pets said Betty is friendly and sweet. She enjoys social interactions. She will make a good family pet and is moderately active.
Betty is another beautiful black female. Her face has a dusting of white on it and her back toes are white but other than that (and the white blaze) she is all black. She still has her winter Australian coat but will hopefully lose that soon.
May 4, 2024 update: Betty has gone to her forever home with Jackie and Jay and pups Simba and Greyhound, Princess.
February 4, 2024 update: Betty (muzzled and on a leash) visited with two cats. Both Betty and the cats seemed rather unimpressed. Betty had little interest, even when they moved or walked away. This was a short, controlled test, and of course, Betty would need to be further trained and supervised if living with cats.
January 12, 2024 update: Betty hopped into the car and rode in the back seat all the way to her foster home. She checked out the yard (and the two resident Greyhounds) and posed for a few photographs. When she came inside she immediately lay in a corner (not on a dog bed) and took a nap. We will know more about Betty as she adjusts to the new time (she’ll have jet lag for a few days) and to her new foster home environment.
